As most roller coaster enthusiasts, I’ve got a top ten. Kumba at Busch Gardens Africa (Tampa, FL), is my all-time favorite roller coaster. It’s an ultra-smooth looping coaster located in Busch Gardens’ lush tropical setting. Below is the list of the absolute best roller coasters that I have ridden. The Viper roller coaster is my favorite at Six Flags Great America, I always drag my friends to it when they’d rather wait in longer lines for shorter, steel coasters. Also, the Alpengeist was amazing on my one trip out east. Now I want to check off all the other coasters on your top ten.

Andrea, I’ve heard a lot good things about Katun. If ever get over to Europe, I’ll definitely check it out. Eileen, Viper at Great America was a really fun ride. It was quite a surprise.
Thanks for reading.

Nice list. My favorite ride is Loch Ness Monster at BGE, but I haven’t ridden many coasters. Also, I’m confused. You say Kumba is your favorite steel coaster, but Superman: Ride of STEEL is your all time favorite coaster. Is this just an accidental lack of updating, or are you making the list noninclusive?

David, it’s like your favorite movie that you know isn’t necessarily the best movie ever made, but you love it. Kumba’s my personal favorite, while Superman is the overall best I’ve ever ridden. Loch Ness is a classic!

Out of your top ten, I’ve ridden Superman, Boulder Dash, and El Toro. I live within 3 hours of all of them, and while Superman is my favorite steel roller coaster, right in front of Montu, I believe Boulder Dash is better. It has a better feel, a wilder ride, and I have a lot of compassion for Lake Compounce, considering they have a very small audience, and are not well known. Superman is a great ride, and El Toro is fun, but I feel like Six Flags has a choke hold on amusemant parks, as far as sales go.
