Mr. Six’s Pandemonium | Coaster Reviews

January 20, 2007

Mr. Six’s Pandemonium @ Six Flags New England
Mr. Six is much more than a wild mouse coaster with spinning cars like I thought it was going to be. I made the long haul to Mass. solo so I wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of waiting in line for 45 minutes to ride with a bunch of strangers. Then, I noticed a single rider’s line with virtually no wait. So I walked onto the ride and was in a car with in about a minute. Meanwhile, the main queue was packed and even bleeding out onto the walkway on a Wednesday. Kudos to SFNE for the single rider line!

The first swooping drop was fun as was the classic mouse-style hairpin turns. The middle section is great as you twist, turn, and drop your way all over the small plot of land. My favorite part was the sort of finale where you drop and twist through a small ravine. The spinning never went overboard or made me sick, at least until we hit the breaks at the end. After hitting the breaks some cars just continue to spin and spin. While others are perfectly still. It must have something to do with the different weights of the riders and how they’re situated.

During the ride, the spinning and varied layout were unexpected and a little surprising, but never sickening or incessant. Lastly, for a compact family coaster Mr. Six seemed like a pretty long ride. The ride length, unique layout, spinning cars, and the fact that you can get a slightly different ride depending on your weight distribution make this a great coaster. By far one of the best family roller coasters I’ve ever ridden. Hopefully we’ll see more of these. Hey Shapiro & Snyder! Six Flags America could use one of these! Final Rating – 8.5 (Great-Approaching Excellent)

Also, check out this short roller coaster video of Mr. Six’s Pandemonium.

Traditional Roller Coasters - Fun For AllMr. Six’s Pandemonium is rated ‘TR’ for Traditional. It’s a 2 out of 5 on my Thrill Scale.

The Coaster Critic's review is spot-on. Even though I generally like my coasters more wild than Pandemonium I never miss going on it at least once when we visit. And it is a really great family coaster. Watching my son's expressions on his first ever roller coaster ride was one of those moments I'll never forget. I don't think he had any idea what to expect. During the first drop and turn he had an expression of horror which turned to pure exhilaration and joy. I think that one ride made him a coaster fan for life.

The layout is interesting and the ride is silky smooth and seems a bit faster than it really is. Like The Coaster Critic I also enjoy the slightly variable nature of the rides due to the rotating car element.

Highly recommended, even if you're a bit nervous about riding coasters.

Pandemonium was a pleasant surprise at Six Flags New England. This is a perfect example of the "you can't judge a book by its cover" mentality. The only reason I rode this during my initial trip was because of my younger sister, but now I make sure I ride it every time I head up to Massachusetts. To be honest, it's probably my third favorite ride at SFNE after Bizarro and Catapult. I wish there were more of these, as they serve as a nice bridge from kiddie coaster to adult coasters.

This could deffinatly be the third best coaster at SFNE. Mind Eraser and Cyclone are very rough, Thunderbolt and Flashback are also kinda rough, so this just has to surpass them in my book. proly a little behind batman tho.
