Steel Venom to Resurface at Dorney Park

June 26, 2007

Steel Venom Roller Coaster Joins Dorney Park’s Lineup in 2008
We’ve known for months that Steel Venom was being removed from Geauga Lake. They mystery was which Cedar Fair park it was going to be shipped to. Coasterdom has reported that Dorney Park will be the new home of the Intamin Impulse Coaster. Dorney Park was among the other rumored locations that included Canada’s Wonderland (near Toronto) and Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, MO).

Steel Venom features a launch that propels riders 0 to 70 mph in a matter of seconds. It’s a short 704′ U-shaped roller coaster with a straight end and a twisted end. It will join Dorney’s strong lineup that includes the floorless coaster Hydra, Morgan hyper coaster Steel Force and beloved B&M inverted coaster Talon.

What do Pennsylvanians and Dorney fans think of this development? Is this the type of coaster Dorney needs? Leave a comment below.

When I first heard the rumors I was very disappointed. That was more or less do to the fact that I was positive a woodie was coming soon. Now that I think about it, this is a good addition to the park. It's small and packs a punch.I'm sure people will line up to ride it. It also will add another cool looking coaster to the park's skyline. Dorney doesn't have a ride that launches you yet, so this is further filling in its diversified ride collection.

It's good to hear that you're happy with the Dorney Park's new coaster. Especially because it's your home park, right? We're definitely in the 'Launch Coaster Era', so it makes sense that a park the size of Dorney would add Steel Venom to its roster. I can see why you'd want a new woodie though. Does Dorney have enough room for a new wooden coaster?

ilove dorney park and i think people will enjoy steel venom because i've rode one similar in cedar point however a wooden ride would be a great addition. something similar to el toro at six flags great adventure would have been perfect.
