X Coaster at Magic Springs Hangs Rider 150′ In the Air
Magic Springs & Crystal Falls (Hot Springs, Arkansas) was the site of an unnerving scene on Sunday. A Maurer Söhne X-Car Coaster named X Coaster left 12 riders suspended upside down 150 feet up, when the park experienced a power outage. The riders were upside down for 30 minutes until firefighters were able to rescue them with a ladder.

One of the riders was sent to a local hospital after reporting a headache and neck pain. Everyone else was red in the face but otherwise okay. I wonder if we’ll see fewer of these X-Car Coasters installed in the States now. Apparently momentary power outages have occurred at the park in the past with out any problems. The ride is closed while investigation into the cause of the accident continues.

Here’s a roller coaster video of X-Coaster & Gauntlet at Magic Springs:

This link says that firefighters could not reach the riders and there was no rescue until power was turned back on. I don’t know which is right. How would a ladder team unlock one rider at a time and flip them from upside down onto a ladder?

They are lying. The X-Coaster was suspended in the air for 45 minutes until power was restored. I was on a ride at the power outage time.
