Evel Knievel Coaster @ Six Flags St. Louis

September 30, 2007

Six Flags St. Louis will Introduce Evel Knievel Coaster in 2008
Evel KnievelSix Flags St. Louis will follow up this year’s Tony Hawk’s Big Spin coaster with its second new roller coaster in 2 years. In 2008, they will introduce their ninth coaster named after the daredevil Evel Knievel. Great Coasters International has designed the wooden twister that’s reminiscent of the Wildcat at Hersheypark and Roar at Six Flags America.

I think naming the coaster after Evel Knievel is aEvel Kneivel Roller Coaster Layout bit of weird choice. The coaster doesn’t really fit the daredevil’s insane jumps and I doubt many kids under 20 will know who Knievel is. One look at the layout reminds me of the Wildcat at Hersheypark. Hopefully Evel Knievel will offer a smoother ride for longer than just its first five or six years unlike Roar and Wildcat.

Evel Knievel Roller Coaster Stats
Length: 2700′
Height: 82′
Drop: 80′
Speed: 50 mph
Cost: $7,000,000

Knoebels should be fun in the Fall. I'm sure the view from the coasters will be nice. I've got a trip to Carowinds coming up as soon as Top Gun is open for a change. It's been closed the past few weekends. As the season comes to end this month I'm going to back down to about 3 posts a week. Thanks for reading!

Phoenix was flying quite smoothly today! Twister had no lines and was also running quite nicely. AND, I got 7 rings on the carousel, a new personal best for me. We also got to watch part of a test run on the Flying Turns. They said it was far from ready, then prooved their point by having to push the train back into the station after it's run. Have a great trip to Carowinds!
