Fahrenheit Coaster - HersheyparkFahrenheit Nears Completion at Hersheypark
Hersheypark’s new Intamin looper Fahrenheit is nearing completion. Coasterdom has a ton of construction photos that can be found here. The 90-degree vertical lift and 97-degree beyond vertical drop can be seen in the picture to the left.

Part of me still questions Hershey’s decision of adding another steel looper with a top hat shaped hill. But on the other hand, I’m a steel coaster enthusiasts so I’m excited to ride Fahrenheit. Here’s a picture of Fahrenheit with Stormrunner in the background.

It was opening today today, and my god it took hours. We got there at 9:30 and RAN to that thing. It was closed for hours. I believe it opened a little before 5 PM. When we got in line, we had to wait for 2 hours and 10 minutes, and it would have been longer, only while we were waiting in line, it broke down AGAIN, and people were leaving so the line moved faster than it would have if it was running.
Totally worth the wait, though. Sick ride, they need to work out the kinks and get a more efficient system going, though.

I went to Hershey this past weekend and got a chance to get on it. Probably waited a little over an hour in line. Was worth the wait, my boyfriend and I got placed on the front seats! Going up that 90 degree lift is really something…and then because of the 97 degree angle down you can’t see the track below you at all when you’re at the top…it was so cool! While I agree that it might have been a little risky to add this ride with the Storm Runner being so similar, I do believe that it was a different enough ride because a) it doesn’t take off the way Storm Runner does, and b) your time on the actual ride is a bit longer than Storm Runner, the track loops around and whatever a bit more. It was a great ride though!
