Ring°Racer Video | World’s Fastest Coaster

December 8, 2008

New Ring°Racer Video Shows the World’s Fastest Coaster in ActionRing Racer - World's Fastest Roller Coaster
Finally, more images and a video has been posted on the S&S web site of the Ring°Racer coaster coming to Nürburgring in Germany. It’s called ‘F1 Coaster’ on their web site, but there’s little doubt that this an animated video of Ring°Racer. When it opens in June 2009, it will surpass Six Flags Great Adventure’s Kingda Ka which tops out at a blistering 128 mph. Ring°Racer will push the envelope even further with a top speed of 134 mph (217 km/h).

The world’s new fastest coaster will have an appropriate home. According to wikipedia, Nürburgring, known as simply “The Ring” by enthusiasts, is a motor sport race track in Nürburg, Germany. Like the infamous Autobahn it includes public access roads where anyone with a registered car can drive as fast as they want.

Ring°Racer Takes the Crown
This will be the first time that I can remember the Germans holding a major roller coaster world record. Unlike, the 1990′s, I doubt this will kick off another coaster arms race due to the state of the economy, but you never know. Kingda Ka will still hold the height record and is so insanely fast that I doubt Six Flags will blink. Besides, the general public that makes up the majority of the park’s patrons will have never heard of Ring°Racer.

Check out this POV video of the ring°racer at Nurburgring:

Ring°Racer’s Unbelievable Launch
The ride looks pretty short, but so are Cedar Point’s Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka. Obviously, the real draw here is going to be that insane launch of 0 to 134 mph in only 2.5 seconds. Kingda Ka doesn’t reach its top speed until 3.5 seconds. The video can’t possibly do the launch justice, but it will likely become legendary. Well, at least until it’s surpassed by another record breaking roller coaster.

What’s Your Take?
What do you think of this future top speed champ? Is it enough for you to hop on a plane to Germany? Any Germans out there excited for Ring°Racer? Leave a comment below.

Hopefully I will be able to ride it, and to be honest, this looks more interesting than TTD or KK, mainly because of the turns and banks at such high speeds.

Andrew, the train is trimmed seconds after the launch. Therefore the turns should not be so fast… but anyway, if the trains were not slowed down, the element would be horribly vilent (it's so low fromo the ground).

Hmm, then it seems more like it's a 3 second thrill ride. The launch is intense, but mathematically, Dononpa (I think that's what it is named), in Japan, goes 0-107 in under 2 seconds, and still has a vertical drop. Still, this ride does look fun and interesting, it's just too bad that there isn't that many rides around where it's being built.

This ride looks even more gimmicky than TTD and KK. The fact that they slow down the train just after the launch almost seems like they're cheating KK out of the fastest title.I personally wouldn't go out of my way to ride this; it's not really much aside from the launch.

Looks pretty lame. In my opinion, once you've ridden one of these coasters, you've ridden them all. Who can really tell much of a difference between Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka anyway? And what's the 10 mph difference between Kingda Ka and RingRacer going to mean to anybody besides the stastistically-inclined? It's almost like worrying about the difference between $950 and $960.Whatever.

I agree with you. A coaster is just a coaster no matter how fast it's going. Sure, it's going faster, but once you ride it, it's over. It's really cool at first, but after a while it fades.

This ride has a faster acceleration as well.

It slows down at the end of the straight you will only be doing the turn at about 8 mph not 134. Ride is def not worth going on. I agree that they are cheating KK out of the top speed record.

      Exactly Dave,

I agree it goes 134 for 3 seconds and that's all. There is no sense in wasting money to go all the way to Germany when KK is in the U.S. I feel sorry that they wasted money on this!!!

Gay, is it? Sorry, I was unaware a chunk of steel could be homosexual. Why use a sexuality/lifestyle as an insult for a rollercoaster?

My opinion? This rollercoaster is sooooo illiterate homophobic geek.

    Absolutely..

I cannot afford the time or money to go to Cedar Point to ride Kingda Ka, But I can drive to Germany in a day, stay the night in one of the very cheap and luxurious Guest houses by the track, and ride it all day!!

I'm gonna take the whole family!

I can't imagine what happens to your eyelids at that speed!

Stealth 'only' does 50 mph in the 2.5 seconds, and the front seat makes your eyelids come away from your eyes, and thanks to the 'swamp' that is now around the queue line at stealth, you also come off the ride with dead bugs on your top, and frequently in your teeth! I rode it yesterday (easter monday) and got a face full!!

It was broken most of the day, but as soon as it opened about 4pm, it had a 2.5 hour queue straight away!!

Sounds like someone has had their 'national nose' put out of joint by this! I'm sure if the States built another one that was 2 mph faster than this, you would be singing it's praises and saying it makes a helluva difference!

I'm glad it's in Germany.. I love the Nurburgring, and this just gives me and the family a really good excuse to go back there, for about £200 in petrol and accommodation i can drive there for a fraction of the cost of going to Cedar Point!

I like the lap bar insead of the over the shoulder harnes which makes kk kind of lame to me. I couldn't immagine having my back go out at the beginning of a ride. Tall people like rollercoasters too. I think it is missing the incline though. A turn is different than being 90 degrees from the ground. BTW has top thrill dragster ever ripped itself in two? Sounds like a fun ride to me, good thing it was a test run. Ring Racer sounds very german to me, better but you missed the point. 70 on a rollercoaster is plenty fast to have fun.

you know the launch for Kingda Ka is so freakishly fast. Ring Racer cant possible hit 134 IN LESS TIME THAN KINGDA KA. Well im not saying that its not going to be 134, but theres no way it can to that in 2.5 seconds. Overall this is going to be such an amazing coaster. I would want to go over to Germany to ride this

I'm sorry for Steve (by the way..oh, you look sooo gay!) and for Matthew (and so it is declared: 134 in 2,5 secs, trust it or are you an engineer?) that in some far away country from yours they're gonna spoil your boasted records, but maybe you only got to grow up and accept that.

lol not at all…it is not original, it is sitting there stopped and then launches at one hundred and some-odd miles per hour…that is the main part of thrill which is the same as kinda ka and Top Thrill Dragster (which I think is truly original)
