The new comedy Adventureland opens this Friday. The movie’s cast includes Ryan Reynolds (much to my wife’s excitement), Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, as well as Bill Hader and Kristin Wiig from SNL. The movie also stars one of the best amusement parks in the country, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania’s very own Kennywood. Phantom’s Revenge can be seen in several shots from the trailers

For the most popular super hero of all time, Superman has the absolute worst villians. His best villain is easily Lex Luthor and he’s just a criminal mastermind constantly after real estate (see the plots for the Superman, Superman 2, and Superman Returns movies). So as Six Flags New England announced an upgrade for the best steel roller coaster on the

It was a rainy day, but the Carolina Cobra media day had a positive feel and pointed to a bright future for Carowinds. The event was attended by the local media, park officials, live snakes, and some Nick characters. A local cover band played a few crowd-pleasers while Dora, Diego, and the Rugrats entertained guests. Next, the park addressed the

Alltel might want to rethink their new commercial. It features the typical cell phone using family struggling with their current cell phone plan. This time the poor customers are waiting under a roller coaster hoping to catch falling change so that they can afford their plans. On the surface it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when you consider

Brits Brace for a Horrifically Steep New Roller Coaster SAW – The Ride opened at Thorpe Park in Surrey, England last week. It opened appropriately on Friday the 13th. Apparently, the country is in quite a buzz. Multiple on-ride fan and BBC news videos have surfaced. Aside from the Saw horror movie theming, riders seem most fearful of the 100 degree drop.

Kennywood’s Phantom’s Revenge was originally the Steel Phantom. In its first incarnation, the Phantom was created in 1991 during the height of the ‘Coaster Arms Race’. That was back when amusement parks were vying to be the home of the World’s Tallest Roller Coaster. Steel Phantom couldn’t technically claim the title with regards to height, but the coaster’s second drop

The thing I’ve been dreading for months is starting to happen. The newly formed Anhueser-Busch InBev is starting to sell off Busch Entertainment Corp., the parent company of the SeaWorld and Busch Gardens parks around the country. The writing had been on the wall since AB was purchased by InBev last year. Almost immediately, analyst predicted that the Belgian brewer

It’s that time of the year when coaster geeks will start drooling over test run videos of the new roller coasters opening this year. A great test video of King’s Island’s Diamondback has been posted on YouTube by KICentral. Note the empty pool towards the end of the video. This will be where the train takes a dive into the splash section.
