Top 3 New International Coasters for 2009

May 7, 2009

Top 3 Thursdays! There are some really cool roller coasters opening around the World this year. I’ve already written about the new speed champ Ring°Racer and Great Britain’s horrifically steep Saw – The Ride so this week I’m counting down three more International Coasters opening in 2009.

El Toro at Freizeitpark Plohn – Germany
This El Toro, not to be confused with Great Adventure’s El Toro, is a 2,400 long GCI woodie with two tunnels. ThemeParkReview has a photo trip report.

Fireball at Happy Valley – ChinaFireball at Happy Valley
Mark 2009 as the year that China built its first wooden coaster. They’re likely to start off with a winner in Fireball. It was designed by Gravity Group the makers of top wooden coasters like The Voyage, Hades, & Ravine Flyer 2. With that kind of pedigree, Fireball’s probably awesome. Unfortunately, I don’t expect to find myself in China anytime soon. If I ever do, I’ll definetly check out Happy Valley. Visit RCDB for more photos.

Blue Fire megacoaster at Europa Park – GermanyBlue Fire Megacoaster - Europa Park
Blue Fire is a Mack launch coaster that looks amazing! It features a jolting launch of 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, three inversions (loop, twisted horse-shoe roll, in-line twist), and a maximum height of 124 feet. Blue Fire definitely should have been in my Top 9 Roller Coasters of 2009 list and it makes Germany one of the countries I’d like to visit most with its great lineup of roller coasters. RCDB has more photos.

What’s Your Take?
What do you think of Blue Fire, El Toro, RingRacer, Saw, Fireball and the other new roller coasters opening outside of the U.S.? Leave a comment below.

I'm french and I think that Blue Fire is a real good Mack-coaster. Seats are really comfortable, the system of "heartbeat took" is amazing… The heartline-roll is surprising too… I'm loving it.
