2010 Roller Coasters Opening In the Rest of the World
2010 is looking to be a down year for new roller coasters in the States. The Intimidator coasters at Kings Dominion and Carowinds are big projects and look great. But after those new rides, there are only a few other major roller coasters in the U.S. The other most notable ride is Kennywood’s currently unnamed launch coaster.
So, let’s take a look at some of the cool new coasters opening around the World. There’s not a lot of information or images, but I’ll share what I know for now:
Battlestar Galactica & Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios – Singapore
Based on the popular Sci-Fi TV series, Battlestar Galactica will be the world’s tallest dueling coaster. It is a Vekoma-designed ride will have a Cylon inverted track and a Human sitdown track. The brand new park is also getting three more roller coasters including a clone of Revenge of the Mummy like the other Universal Parks have.
Surrender at Alton Towers – United Kingdom
Little is known about Alton Towers’ (one of United Kingdoms top theme parks) new roller coaster. Even the name is unknown although it’s being referred to as ‘Surrender’ and ‘SW6′ because of the teaser page. It’s listed as an Intamin ride on RCDB. It boasts a World’s First element and an indoor section. ScreamScape reported about a rumored element involving a section of track that will separate and drop trains to another section.
F1 Coaster & Emotion Coaster at Ferrari Experience – United Arab Emirates
Two interesting likely-race car themed roller coasters are coming to the Middle East. Again, very few details, but construction photos of F1 Coaster have been on the Web for months. Emotion Coaster is listed on RCDB as having two tracks with LSM launches. NewsPlusNotes has more on Ferrari Experience.
Joris en de Draak at Efteling – Netherlands
The Netherlands will get a Great Coasters International (GCI) twin wooden coaster. I can’t really tell if this will be a dueler or just a racer, but ThemeParkReview has blueprints and more.
Also, I’ll be updating my New Roller Coasters for 2010 page as more information on American and international coaster details are announced.
What’s Your Take?
What do you think of these new roller coasters? Do you have any info on the 2010 coasters opening overseas? Leave a comment below.

Alton Towers- Apparently there is a picture of a piece of track heading upwards with tires on it. There are three Intamins with tire propelled launches. Galaxy express 999 is from 2005, and it is the only one of its type. Then there is Mick Doohan's Motocoaster and Jet Rescue. Both are similar to Vekoma Booster Bikes. Since the package label is always right (I305), and this one says Intamin family coaster, that is my guess- an Intamin Motorcycle coaster. Probably not what they're officially named, but you get the idea.
Nurburgring- Ringracer isn't opening in 2009- wait till 2010.
Knoebles-They bought Golden Nugget from Dinosaur Beach and is planning to open it in 2010. I wouldn't get my hopes up that it will actually open in 2010 though. Flying Turns may finally open next year, but I have my doubts.
Walygator Parc- Getting a relocated Raptor clone from Expoland. Going to be named Monster. (Europe is going horror movie themed ride crazy)
La Ronde is getting a relocated SLC from Astroworld. However, the park already has a Batman Clone.
Quassy- Getting a junior wood from GG. Not going to be "I need to go to Quassy's NOW!", but it's Gravity Group, so expect forces.
SFGAm- Rumored to recieve Chang. This could mean interesting things for Iron Wolf. Note: this is not verified.
BGA- To get a Sesame Street forest of fun.
P.S. What is that Eleven 99-Big anouncement thing at the bottom of the sidebar?

Wait, when you said IMDB several times above, did you mean the Internet Movie Database or something else? Didn't think they did stuff for coasters. Just trying to clarify what you mean. Leave it to me to be the correct-a-holic
. I would also like to know what the Eleven 99 thing is as well.

Oops. Writing while watching TV is not a good idea. That's supposed to RCDB. The Roller Coaster Database. It's a must visit for coaster enthusiasts!
Nice list Nessie. A few notes. Chang is likely a 2011 attraction if the rumor about Six Flags anniversary year being the year that they "trade" rides between parks. Air Grover is the name of the new Busch Gardens Africa kiddie coaster.
And you'll find out all about "Eleven 99" on 11.09.09.

i realy hope that they add a launch coaster to six flags new england, they could also due with a quality woddie or a terrain coaster to go down the hill were you leave from the parking lot.

I'll update my list on what Screamscape say now.
Alton Towers- Aparently a survey for names is going around. Surrender isn't on it. And contrary to what Screamscape says, Panic is the best name.
The names do point to a horror theme, though.
Lagoon- Supports are arriving. People are suspecting a Premier.
Disnyworld- I can't remember which section is getting an update, but somke new rides

The Eleven 99 announcement on 11.09.09… Uh, DUH! Do you know what this announcement even is, and just aren't telling us, or are you as confused as the rest of us?
October 23, 2009 at 16:04
Star tours is the ride being redone at disneyworld, i hope they make it more like mission space, i honestley hade more fun on that than i ever had on a coaster.
November 4, 2009 at 17:37
i wonder if they`ll remake the Nightmare at the great escape, My home park, check the RCDB for more info on it. (i mean the coaster)
November 19, 2009 at 15:28
A cool coaster would be a stand up invert- anyone agree?
November 19, 2009 at 15:44
Or a launched woodie. Thats possible now because the new timberliner trains are capable of a launch.
November 19, 2009 at 18:10
Yeah that would be cool! (hint to B&M) but a little unconfortable
November 20, 2009 at 02:51
Not always, (Inatimin)
Tom, do B&M make woddies, or do you just want them to?
November 22, 2009 at 07:43
Well, yes I want them to but that's not what I was replying to. I was replying to JaMeS comment but something went wrong with my computer and I didn't see Schwarz's comment. It does that all the time.
November 22, 2009 at 11:26
thanks for the clear up.
(darn, i love doing that)
JaMeS, that would be mixing two of the most rough types of coasters around together, the only way you could make it rougher, is if you made it out of non-prefabricated wood. that would just plain hurt.
November 22, 2009 at 13:00
Well the majority of inverted I have been on are pretty smooth.
November 22, 2009 at 13:00
Oh also what was up with my logo changing for a day?
November 23, 2009 at 02:59
i have no idea what was up whith the logo Schwars. i`ve ridden two inverts, a Mind Eraser clone, and a Batman: the ride clone. let`s just say that the Mind Eraser`s only form of themeing was the former-ridders stumbling down the exit line clutching at their heads and groaning. Batman wasn`t as bad, but had some prettey bad headbanging. speaking of rough inverts, souldn`t it be cool if all the mind eraser clones got the new vekonama shoulder restaints, like on Carolina Cobra.
November 23, 2009 at 03:36
Well the invert I ride the most is afterburn so I guess I'm just used to a smooth ride. I have also rode Batman at SFOG, Raptor, and Volcano and most of those are pretty smooth. Oh and It would be cool if mind eraser got the new vekonama restrants or better yet if this is possible on an invert, a lap bar!
November 23, 2009 at 13:02
i think it would be possible if it came down from the side, i think that would be the only possible, comfortable way of doing it.
November 23, 2009 at 14:08
well can't you give a guy credit for thinking it up? such harsh comments…
