ST is easily the best wooden coaster I have ridden. It is pure adrenalin from the moment you plummet down the first hill to the final braking just before entry into the station. By comparison, I have ridden all the woodens at Holiday World (the Voyage, Raven, and Legend), as well as the Beast at King's Island, Mean Streak (worst ever) and Blue Streak (good ride) at CP, and Thunderbolt at Kennywood (thought Jackrabbit as better, at the risk of ruining credibility). None are close to ST as far as a combination of speed, smoothness (relatively speaking for a wood coaster). It is pure fun. And the back is entirely different thsn the frnot (more forceful).

Im 50 yrs old maybe I need to seea Doctor to determine if my internal organs are too loose or somethign but I road this shimmering timbers yesterday July 7 2011 and the ride was torture for me, I was in sheer agonly and pain with how bad it rattled and shook me violently, the adrenalin if any was lost in my pain from the forceful shaking my my upper body . I couldnt wait forit to be over, I CANT BELIEVE people havent been killed from this ride even from not being thrown out . CEDAR point has very shaky rides too, But I think Shimering timbers is quite worse, The name should be changed to The 'Human Blender'

IMO, ST is the finest wood coaster I have ever ridden. The hills following the opening drop provide extreme air in pretty much every seat. While I agree the trick-track is rough, I think it provides important pacing without which the ride would just be an airtime machine (with apologies to the nice closing helix).

Good Review, Aric. It was a bit longer than most of CC's reviews, but you did get the point across. Good deal.

No piratey stuff, its in kind of a wild west "light" part of the park. The themeing includes a photo area where you can wear old timey clothes and have a picture taken, a train that can be viewed from the coaster and all the structures are made of wood. Not the most creative decorations ever.
