What Will Mt. Olympus’ 2012 Roller Coaster Be?

February 17, 2011

Could Mt. Olympus Be Building a Flying Roller Coaster?
Submit a (You)ReportI bring forth (once again) that Mt. Olympus has stated that they’ll build a major attraction for the 2012 season. Back in mid-December, they posted on their Facebook page that a major attraction is coming. With the announcemnt, the words “THINK BIG” and “FLY” were capitalized.

Vekoma Stingray - Coming to Mt. Olympus?

So at the moment, I’m speculating that they’ll add a Vekoma Stingray. I say this because they are low on space, and money doesn’t come easy for them. Plus, I’d see this would look great along their backdrop.

    Nice concise (You)Report, Prof.BAM!

For those unfamiliar with Mt. Olympus, it's a Greek-themed park up in Wisconsin. It's current lineup includes four woodies and a spinning wild mouse coaster. The headliner is the awesome Hades with a claim to fame of a long and intense underground tunnel.

Whatever they add it will no doubt have a Greek name. As far as coaster types, I'd think Prof.BAM!'s guess is as good as any. Oh. Zamperla flying coasters are small too, but I don't know if they're still making new ones. Plus, I wouldn't call them "BIG".

Big doesn't always mean large. It could mean great, as in this is a big achievment for them (being their first major steel coaster).

Oh, and here are more pictures of a Vekoma Stingray at China's Giant Wheel Park of Suzhou.

I think a flying coaster seems very likeley, but just to add another possibility, maybe it could be a "Flying" turns coaster

With some creativity, they could possible cram a compact B&M flyer in there. Fingers crossed :)

It's not in their budget. They have two theme parks, two waterparks, 4 hotels and more they have to pay for. If they had the money for B&M, they'd have themed Hades better, or at least gotten a transfer track.

Why didn't I think of this before?! I'm such an idiot! I completely forgot about GCI's Millenium FLYERS. It could be a GCI woodie!

I live in wisconsin dells and you are mislead if you believe MT olumpus dosent have much room. They actualy have preatty much bought that intire side of the road and about 10 new hotels. I believe it is going to be something HUGE. im really thinking a b&m flying coaster but i wouldnt be surprise if they did something as big as a hyper coaster or mega coaster ill let u all know soon as i see theme starting to build something

I would love to see a god of war themed coaster. if they would team up with sony And have a 2 track coaster Kratos VS Ares HAVE A QUEEUE LINE LEAD THREW DESTROYED ROMAN BUILDINGS N STATUES. THEN HAVE DUAL STEAL COASTERS BOTH STARTING WITH A GIANT CLIMB UP TO A BIG DROP AND THATS WHEN THE BATTLE BEGINS HAVE THE COASTERS CROSS BACK AND FORTH WITH EACH OTHERE BATTLEING IT OUT ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE STATION

I agree with you on the Ares: God of War theme. But I don't think it will be a dueling coaster though.

Sony might actualy agree to let Mt. Olympus create a coaster like this using their game charachters, as long as they don't start an advirtising campaign with Microsoft, ( :) ) but I don't think Mt. Olympus would want to invest that much money into copyrights.

I saw a survey marker over by the old Dive to Atlantis pond while I was out there over Memorial weekend. According to my research, the aforementioned ride was removed around the same time as the first B&M watersplash was created. This could be a B&M hyper or Dive machine.

It definetly will not be a water attraction Wisconsin dells has a water useage ordinance. and the only way for them to build any new water attraction is to tear 1 out . as far as a thrill ride thats a good possibilty. But they said to think bigger then six flags and i just dont c a thrill ride being an option if there wanting to go bigger then six flags

Was driveing down the strip saturday when i saw a flashback to the past right in front of me was a sign reading "the original big chief go karts"!!! immedietly i had to investigate and sure enough nick opened up a new go kart complex about 2 blocks before mount olympus on the opposite side of the road. There charging only 3 bucks a ride.

i didnt actually know about the ordinance but i dont know y they would ever add a new coaster they need to fix up the ones they have and have regular maintenance and get a better staff and ride operators and clean up the place a little then think about adding something new here what i think they should do: add 2 coasters a stingray right off to the side of the kiddie area (right on the park map) add a boomerang coaster to the right of the groups outing area in the back and add something like a windseeker to the left of the group outing area that would be (in my opinion) perfect (for now lol =)
