There sort of is a Social Network for coaster fans. Ridewarriornation is Cedar Fair parks website for roller coaster fans. There are topics you can comment or post on, as well as create topics to discuss.

yep. i really like the idea of the social network idea. ParkBook or ThrillSpace, something corny yet catchy like that. I think it would be awesome.

I think the Theme Park Social Blog Network is a great Idea, lots of sites end up stopping short because of not having a lot of followers.

Also, someone on Twitter had a similar 'you can already do that' response. Maybe it's not clear what these sites are.

You can share links on FB, but I'm not sure I've seen a place where you can vote on those links. And have those links all centered around a particular topic.

And to me it seems like your friends on FB are usually your friends in real life. Wasn't that Zuckerburg's whole idea? In a theme park social network you could connect with theme park fans from all over. See the difference?

I know these ideas aren't for everybody, I just want to make the distinctions clear. These actually don't exist right now. Not to my knowledge at least.

To counter that, there must be a reason so many niche social networks have popped up. They aren't huge (b/c they're niche), but to the audiences they serve they definitely have a purpose. Sure, these ideas won't be of interest to all theme park fans, but I think they could be popular for many of them.

You have some great ideas here. I completely agree that services/sites like these could be very popular and fun for us enthusiasts, as well as help everyone discover new sites and make new friends.

The problem is that you can do all three of those things on the social sites (Facebook) already. There's no need to break it down to theme park fans only because they're already connecting on sites like Facebook. I wouldn't use any of those sites.

There's a reason no one has had success with those kinds of sites yet. It's because there's no need for it.
