These lucky plastic dummies are often the first riders on the roller coasters that we’re itching to ride. I assume that they’re meant to simulate a weighted train packed with live riders. They’ve been featured in countless test videos on YouTube (like this one of the Battlestar Galactica coaster), but I never thought I’d get to meet them in person. I couldn’t help myself when I saw a bunch of these under the Intimidator’s station during the 2010 Coaster Stock event at Carowinds. The Bolliger & Mabillard stamp had me geeking out even more.

Do they have heads? Or are they headless coaster-men?

It looks like they do, in order to fit the restraints.

in May at Cedar Point when we first got in line for the 9am lines the employees were taking the dummies out of the coaster and slinging them to the side. I thought that was pretty cool.
