Breaking Down Busch Gardens’ New Verbolten Videos

March 16, 2012

Verbolten - Busch Gardens Williamsburg - Reviews

UPDATE – May, 16th - Verbolten is now open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Read reviews of Verbolten and rate it if you’ve ridden it: Reviews of Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Verbolten - Busch Gardens Williamsburg 2012New Videos Give Us a Better Look at Verbolten
Busch Gardens Williamsburg has posted a few new videos of Verbolten. They give a somewhat revealing look at the inside of the event building. Also, park officials speak about both launches, the “free fall” and signature drop to the Rhine River, as well as the queue house.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg – Verbolten’s Dual Drops Video

We’ve known about Verbolten’s drop to the Rhine ever since plans were leaked. And, if you’ve been following construction at all, you’ve seen the drop section. It was still cool to hear that Verbolten’s drop will be a bit taller.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg – Verbolten’s Multiple Launches Video

While Verbolten’s not meant to be more of a family ride, a 60 mph launch is nothing to sneeze at. The other Virginia park, Kings Dominion, has a car-themed family launch coaster that tops out at 40 mph. Of course the trains on that coaster and its clone, Backlot Stunt Coaster at Kings Island are much smaller than Verbolten’s but it’s worth mentioning. Here’s hoping that this ride will provide some forces.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg – Verbolten’s Queue House Video

I’m excited to see Busch Gardens is continuing their rich theming tradition. I actually wouldn’t mind if Loch Ness had more of a line so that I could investigate all of the lake exploration equipment in that ride’s queue. Small touches and this kind of extra effort is what makes both Busch Gardens parks so special.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg – Verbolten Media Hard Hat Tour Video

It was probably pretty cool to get a preview of the ride like that. Am I stupid for wanting one of those Verbolten hard hats? Wait. Don’t answer that. They’d look great next to my other useless theme park promo material (like my Green Lantern ring!)

I was glad to see how much Busch Gardens was willing to show. Many of its secrets had already been revealed anyway. Why not promote the ride as much as you can without giving everything away? We still don’t know what kind of special effects we might experience during the indoor section. So, something will still be a surprise. Also, the general public will likely know very little about the ride as it has a terrain layout and an indoor section. I’m about equally as excited for the ride as I was before watching the videos, but I do appreciate the behind-the-scenes look and the park’s efforts to get the word out. There’s no sense in being so secretive that it hampers the buzz for the ride.

I am so excited about this ride! America is so lucky to have this as well as other rides. Sure, Th13teen has a free-fall drop, but Verbolten's drop sounds a lot more 'exciting'.

I want to ride this very badly. I am seriously regretting going to busch gardens last year instead of this year, because now it has mach tower (it wasn't done yet when I was there in June), and verbolten! This ride looks awesome! I probrably won't be back there for a while, but I am definitely going to come back at some time and give this ride a go!

A Verbolten hard hat… I'm not sure if that would top my Bizzaro watch, but it sounds pretty cool. :)

Will be there (and KD) this summer. This looks like it's easily going to top Cheetah Hunt as far as thrills go. Cheetah Hunt's 3 launches were all largely overrated since each one was immediately followed by a speed-killing hill. If I'm watching this video correctly, it looks like the 60 mph launch will take you straight to a DROP down to the Rhine River? That looks incredibly awesome. However, there has to be some type of catch right? I'm not exactly a structural engineer but shouldn't hitting a drop that steep at that much speed cause all types of stress on the train and/or track? I HOPE I'm wrong though and Intamin was able to pull off their engineering magic! At any rate the ride looks "wicked". >:)

Just as I pressed enter, I remembered that this was being built by Zierer, not Intamin. Wanted to correct myself!
