I’ve been posting a little less often in the past couple of weeks because I’ve been working feverishly in the lab on a few new projects. I’m excited to say that they’re both nearing completion. I won’t give exact announcement dates or break out the good old countdown timer, but I may be announcing one of them within the next week or so. If you’re a long-time reader then you know I like to pick launch dates that have some mathematical significance. Maybe that’s a clue for some of you.
I’ll save the details of the projects for later, but this image should shed light on one of them.
Are there any new features or projects you’d like to see? Similar to my Coasterology 101 posts that define the different types of roller coasters, one reader suggested a sort of thrill elements resource that would define the different types of loops and other coaster elements.
Can you think of anything that you’d like to see added to The Coaster Critic’s Blog or somewhere else? Leave a comment below.

Perhaps a social networking site. I know we have Theme Park Hype, but maybe a site that is less focused on news and uploading news and more on social networking. Perhaps have it that users can make like a facebook page, then fill out what amusement park they are going to next, what amusement park they have most recently been to, favorite coaster, park, etc. Perhaps have like a twitter type thing as well where you can follow people. Also have it available to friend people. Another idea is a roller coaster gaming site where you can play all types of online roller coaster games, quizzes, etc. Another idea is a site in which you can manage your coaster count, ratings, etc. Besides those, I think you have got everything else in the bag, but can't wait to hear the news!

I would definitely need some help to run something as big as a social network. Heck, I could use help with Hype. Because of spam, I have to moderate submissions. If anyone's interested in helping out let me know!
I like your ideas though. Thanks for the support.

Are you abandoning your other projects? You seem to have a lot of projects going, and splitting your time among all of them seems to cause them all to suffer a bit. I'm not trying to criticize — I think there are some good ideas — but why not focus on just a couple and make them great?

That's a fair criticism TF. I've realized that I have a tendency to spread myself thin at times, but I think the main new project will actually help with that. It'll make more sense soon. And at the end of the day, while I enjoy creating and launching side projects, the mother ship (this blog) will always be a priority.

All we coaster enthusiasts really need a way to keep track of all the coasters we've ridden, also a way to keep track of our top 10 favorites list. But, easy to use, unlike coastergrotto.com.

I like that idea Dillon.

I would love that too! Please make it, Coaster Critic!

I agree with Dillon. I've started using Coaster Counter, but it's not all I wish it would be for keeping track of what you've ridden, 'checking in' on rides (Foursquare integration would be great), learning all about the ride itself, etc..
