Rumor – B&M’s First 4D Coaster Could be in China or Spain

July 23, 2012

Eejanaika at Fuji Q HighlandsI recently received a rather interesting (You)Report from an international reader. I decided not to post the entire submission as it has appeared somewhere else already. Google’s not a fan of duplicate content. Anyway, it was about B&M’s development of a 4th dimension roller coaster. We’ve already heard that the company may some day evolve their wing coaster designs into a 4D design by having the seats rotate on their axis. But, the reader’s rumor included possible locations for the first prototype.

According to the development of this prototype, there are two parks interested in the acquisition of this prototype, Parque Warner Madrid (Spain) and World Joyland (China) because they have recently been working together with this designer.

- Mysterious Reader ‘Paul’

The timing was interesting as Lance reported receiving an email last week mentioning B&M’s 4D coaster development:

With the full scale international launch of their Wing Coaster design now behind us, I was reminded that they are still hoping to evolve the Wing Coaster design into their very own version of a 4th Dimension coaster style attraction, with rotating seats.
- Lance from Screamscape

Again, we’re in downtown Rumorville here, just a message from someone with an unnamed source, but there could be some validity to it. If the first B&M 4D coaster is a few years away and it will be made overseas (like the first wing coaster), then we may not see one stateside for three to four years at least.

What’s Your Take? Could B&M be working on a 4D coaster? Leave a comment below. Image of Eejanaika at Fuji Q Highlands via CC, Flickr user – Lox Tonnerre

B&M + 4D Coaster = Best Coaster Ever. I'm already calling it. X(2) is already one of my favorite rides ever, and that's WITH it being extremely rough (and sometimes painful). Throw in B&M's trademark smoothness and you quite possibly could have one of the most thrilling coasters made. With the reviews I'm seeing of their wing coasters, we already know B&M can pull this off. They would just have to find a way to implement the second rack-and-pinion track for controlling the seat rotations without compromising any smoothness. If they pull it off, I might have to move near whatever park stateside gets it first!

Seriously though, if I had to make a list of top roller coaster moments, the first drop of X2 has to be within my top 3. I've been patiently waiting for a company like Intamin or B&M to take that roller coaster concept to the next level.

I sure hope that, if the rumours are true, they put it in Spain… Parque Warner isnt the best choice though. I visited the park a month ago and the 2 B&M Coaster were pourly maintained :s

when i went to parque warner i found the b&ms to be the better maintained in the park, the wooden one was extremely rough and the giant inverted boomerang was closed :S
i agree that parque warner isn't a good choice i don't think they have enough money for something that expensive, eajenaika for example was +40000000$

$40000000… probably a different currency right? If thats American Currency your talking about then thats a whole lot of money!!! Oh wait nevermind. I read it wrong. Its 40 million. That seems about right. I feel dyslexic right now. Add commas please LOL.

Alton Towers likes world's firsts, so I'm rooting for them getting the first one. The fact that it's not too far away helps :)

I hope the 4D would be placed at Six Flags Great Adventure. it needs more attention, definitely.
