Since it’s Thursday, I thought I’d bring back my old tradition of Top 3 Thursdays. For this edition, I’ll focus on the best looking new roller coasters opening this year, 2020.

A Long-Awaited Park Gets A Double Dose of Excitement
Houston’s first major theme park since AstroWorld will finally open this year. The key attraction will be a two wing coasters that will have breath-taking near misses reminiscent of when the Dueling Dragons used to actually duel. Starting with a launch the two coasters will play chicken as they give riders the sensation of a head on collision. At the last second, both trains will invert as they execute simultaneous Immelmans. Magma and Frost cross paths twice more before returning to their heavily-themed stations.

World’s First Transfer Track Mine Train Coaster Comes to Tennessee
Kodiak Canyon will take interactive roller coasters to a whole new level. We’ve seen rides like Rip Ride Rockit where guests can choose the song that they ride to, but on Kodiak Canyon riders will choose the layout that they’ll experience. At two brake runs during the ride, a switch track will redirect the trains if the riders have chosen a different path via the on-board vote buttons. This ground-breaking coaster will offer four different ride experiences, so expect lots of re-rides.

An Inversion Inside of an Inversion
The first large scale robocoaster will feature a first-of-its-kind element. Robocoaster SuperTwist will invert riders during an inversion. One disorienting loop just isn’t enough these days. After flipping riders upside-down the robocoaster cars will quickly do a barrell roll and then the trains will complete the inversion. It’s cool to finally see the technology behind Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey taken to a new level.

Hmm. Wing coaster seems cool. Transfer coaster would need some rethinking. Most likely not everyone riding will want to ride the same track so how would that be settled? A vote wouldnt be fair for the people who waited however long to ride the track they wanted to ride TBH. Sorry. I was busy with my trip last week. Surya's advice was pretty solid. I hope you did get to ride Goldrusher though. It's a pretty good mine train.

I went here last year. I'd say: ride Intimidator as much as possible, I liked front best, but your preference may vary.
Also make sure to ride Afterburn a couple of times, preferably in the back. That batwing is just great.
Nighthawk is one of the best Vekoma's I've ridden, I think I even rerode it.
I found Thunder Road to be a bit too rough, as was Hurler
I didn't do the Cobra or Ricochet, I don't like boomerangs and wild mouses.
Cyclone and Goldrusher are showing their age, they're not must rides.

Eijanaika technically already has an inversion inside of an inversion. Except it has the inverse of what you described, a front-flip inside of a barrel-roll (zero-g roll to be more precise). Now if only it wasn't all the way in Japan.

For that matter, you could describe a Norwegian loop (like in Speed Monster and Fahrenheit) as a vertical loop in the middle of an inline twist.

I didn’t think it would be good… Oh well. Did intimidator about 30 times, no wait, after burn 5 timesish, cobra twice, nighthawk once, Thunder road-north, vortex, ricochet, Carolina cyclone, Woodstock coaster, windseeker, and the gliders. Intimidator was obviously my groups must ride, over and over, and it was great! Just needed a tad more of airtime and it would’ve been fantastic. The afterburn was pretty good, I think I had set the expectations too high on this though, but I loved the batwing. Carolina cobra… Couldn’t decide if I loved it or hated it. Hated nighthawk, probably cause I love 5 minutes from manta. Thunder road was probably the surprise of the trip, actually smooth! Somewhat. The vortex was awful. Ricochet was fun, but standard. Cyclone has lost all appeal to me. The Woodstock coaster was a kiddie coaster, but it gets the job done. Windseeker was too slow for me, but a good addition for the park. And the gliders… Spent a quarter of the day on these, got some great snaps! Overall great, just too hot.

I'm glad that you had a good time at my home park. It sounds like you got a lot of good riding in!
