This week Disney shared an animated POV video of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster that will be opening in the revitalized New Fantasyland area at Magic Kingdom. The video is short and meant to just give a tease of the attraction. One noteworthy element of the family ride will be the swaying or tipping motion of the train cars.

As Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Tom Staggs pointed out in the video, the ride will incorporate both an indoor dark ride experience and a more traditional roller coaster section. I’m starting to think that duel threat rides like these are almost a surefire winner. From Mummy’s Revenge to Mystery Mine, these ride have the advantage of the heavily themed experience and the thrill of a roller coaster.

More Than A Little Overdue for a Return Trip to Disney

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is set to open some time in 2014. That’s pretty far in the future, but I might just find myself at the park that year as my daughters will be old enough warrant the costly Disney trip (7 and 4 then). And, depending on the height requirement, it’s very likely that we’ll be able to ride this coaster as a family which is something we haven’t done on a coaster yet.

I recently recorded an episode of The Seasoned Pros List Show with Doug of the Season Pass Podcast, Arthur Levine of the About Theme Parks Guide and the man behind THE theme park news and rumor site, Lance from ScreamScape. Once again, my Disney deficiency was apparent. In this edition we listed the most beautiful theme parks in our opinion. Since I hadn’t been to a Disney park in 25 years, my list was Disney-less while their lists had a number of Disney parks. Still, we had fun discussing our picks.
