Legoland Florida Offers Reduced Admission with Pick-A-Date & Save Tickets

February 23, 2013

Last week, Legoland Florida announced a new Pick-A-Date & Save program that offers reduced admission for guests that buy their tickets in advance. Here’s more from their press release:

Families will save on admission when they Pick-A-Date to visit the park and purchase tickets online prior to their trip. Choosing a date eight or more days in advance will result in savings of $15 per admission ticket (as low as $64 for adults, $54 for children/seniors). Guests can save $10 per ticket when planning a trip two to seven days in advance. Savings are available for LEGOLAND Florida and/or the LEGOLAND Water Park for one or two-day park visits.

I would definitely take advantage of a program like this as I generally know weeks in advance when I’m going to visit a theme park. There are a number of pricing systems that parallel this program in other industries, but I can’t think of one in the theme park industry. Legoland Florida states in the press release that this program is: “one of the first of its’ kind … for theme parks in Central Florida and throughout the nation.”

With regards to Legoland Florida specifically, my family and I enjoyed our visit last year. Read my Legoland Florida trip report. The park is aimed at families with children aged 2 to 12. Also, here’s a video showcasing the park’s rides and roller coasters.

Would you buy your tickets in advance in order to save money? Would you like to see more parks offer this type of program? Leave a comment below.

What Legoland is doing is great. I almost always buy tickets online in advance, as that usually proves to be a much less expensive option than buying them at the park. (I screwed up when I went to Dorney Park, as it was a last minute decision, I didn't have time to purchase and print a ticket online and ended up paying $20 more than I should have.) I wish that more parks would offer a significant discount for purchasing tickets in advance. The one that really stands out as an egregious example of not offering online discounts is Busch Gardens Tampa. It's a beautiful park but very pricey. I called before I went there and was informed that there was no saving to be had by purchasing in advance. I thought that this might be because I was trying to get a ticket only 5 days before my visit but just checked their website and it doesn't seem to matter when you intend to go there; however you get your ticket, you're going to pay through the nose. And the senior discount, which I took, is only $3.00 off the regular price. Big deal.

It stinks that Busch Gardens Tampa doesn’t offer an online discount when nearly every park does.
