Kraken @ SeaWorld Orlando | Roller Coaster Reviews

Kraken at SeaWorld Orlando | Roller Coaster Review Kraken at SeaWorld Orlando has been one of Florida’s most popular roller coasters for years. It’s a floorless B&M looper where riders face seven loops in unprotected, open air seating. I got the chance to ride it when I visited SeaWorld for the opening of Manta a few years ago. Kraken’s Setting

Featured Photo #22 – Coaster People

Recently, I was asked about the highlights of my 5 years of blogging. Getting to talk to the people behind our favorite theme parks and roller coasters has to be one of the biggest thrills of this adventure. Back in 2009, I had the opportunity to speak with Louis Alfieri who was one of the designers behind Rip Ride Rockit.

Featured Photo #19 – I Challenge You to a Duel!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter inherited an awesome roller coaster in the re-themed, Dragon Challenge. Formerly, Dueling Dragons, the ride has to be one of the most awe-inspiring inverted coasters to watch. With three near-misses, on-lookers are frozen in their tracks as the trains pass within feet of each other. Unfortunately, from a rider’s perspective the near misses are

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster @ Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Coaster Reviews

Disney Parks are known for being ostentatious; it’s practically a calling card of the world’s most famous theme parks. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, some of the most beautiful, well executed rides in existence, in all of their many iterations, and that says nothing of all of the other amazingly themed areas and rides contained in the Disney

Featured Photo #11 – SeaWorld’s Showstopper

After being a fan of and covering roller coasters for so many years it became rare to see rides do new and unique things. Manta, a B&M flying roller coaster, was a great attraction for SeaWorld for a number of reasons. SeaWorld went above and beyond by incorporating a ray and manta exhibit and by adding this cool one-of-a-kind element.

The Coaster Critic Joins Gadling + Recent Theme Park News

Recently, I became a blogger at AOL’s popular travel blog, Gadling. I hope to add more general theme park and roller coaster news to the site’s already very rich content. Because Gadling has such a wide audience the posts there may be a little more general while my posts here will be a bit more for the enthusiasts. For example, I’ll

Orlando Thrill Park’s Coaster Lineup Looks Insane

More Details on the Proposed Orlando Thrill Park A few weeks ago plans for a proposed Orlando Thrill Park were unveiled. While Orlando is known for the family-oriented Disney parks, the people behind a new thrill-focused park are hoping that that kind of attraction could be a success in the O-Town as well. Thrill Park investors must think that there could

Top 3 States for Roller Coasters

In a potentially controversial edition of Top 3 Thursdays, I’m going to share my Top 3 States for Roller Coasters. Instead of a top three ranking, I’m going to list the the three states and explain why. Here’s the list in no particular order: Pennsylvania – Quantity, Variety, & History Pennsylvania is the roller coaster mecca in my opinion. There’s a

Thrill Seeker App Video Blog & Review

Today, I’m launching one of my new features, video blogs. For my first episode I reviewed the Thrill Seeker App for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s a bit long as it’s basically a video version of the text version of the review below. Future video blogs will be shorter and (hopefully) more polished. It’s a little rough, but I
