Kraken @ SeaWorld Orlando | Roller Coaster Reviews

Kraken at SeaWorld Orlando | Roller Coaster Review Kraken at SeaWorld Orlando has been one of Florida’s most popular roller coasters for years. It’s a floorless B&M looper where riders face seven loops in unprotected, open air seating. I got the chance to ride it when I visited SeaWorld for the opening of Manta a few years ago. Kraken’s Setting

The Coaster Critic Tackles Texas

This week, I’m headed out to Texas to visit the state’s three largest theme parks. I’ll be visiting San Antonio for Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld. Then, I’ll be going to Dallas for Six Flags Over Texas and the newly re-opened Texas Giant that received some very positive reviews during a commercial shoot. It’s also my second most anticipated new coaster

2011 Theme Park Trips – Where Are You Headed?

Florida vs. Texas I had been looking to go back to Florida for my most anticipated roller coaster of 2011, Cheetah Hunt. But, while the trip would have had some high quality rides like my all-time favorite Kumba, Rip Ride Rockit, the Wizarding World, and re-rides on great coasters like Mummy, Montu, etc., the number of new rides would have

Featured Photo #11 – SeaWorld’s Showstopper

After being a fan of and covering roller coasters for so many years it became rare to see rides do new and unique things. Manta, a B&M flying roller coaster, was a great attraction for SeaWorld for a number of reasons. SeaWorld went above and beyond by incorporating a ray and manta exhibit and by adding this cool one-of-a-kind element.

The park has confirmed that it will be opening its own Manta roller coaster. Like SeaWorld Orlando’s Manta, the attraction will combine a marine life exhibit with the roller coaster experience. My first impressions are that San Diego’s Manta

Top 3 States for Roller Coasters

In a potentially controversial edition of Top 3 Thursdays, I’m going to share my Top 3 States for Roller Coasters. Instead of a top three ranking, I’m going to list the the three states and explain why. Here’s the list in no particular order: Pennsylvania – Quantity, Variety, & History Pennsylvania is the roller coaster mecca in my opinion. There’s a

MSNBC’s 10 Gut-Churning Attractions

MSNBC.com’s 10 Gut-Churning Attractions – Amusement Park Rides For the Emetically Immune Recently, I was interviewed by MSNBC.com for an article about extreme thrill rides and roller coasters. I came up with a list, but the writer only chose a few of them. He also chose a few rides from Robb Alvey of Theme Park Review and Robert Niles of Theme

Clash of the Titans Coaster Edition: Medusa vs. Kraken

Roller Coasters & Greek Mythology I saw the new Clash of the Titans remake over the weekend. Even a special effects laden action adventure movie couldn’t take me out of my roller coaster geekdom. Throughout the movie I was constantly reminded of the roller coasters that were named after these classical Greek gods and mythical creatures. A struggle between brothers Zeus

Theme Park Travel Odyssey 2009 Edition

2009 Theme Park Travel Odyssey Time to recap my 2009 theme park trips. This was a busy year with a number of interviews, media days, and fun theme park trips. I’m even going to include a lost trip that I don’t think I’ve referenced on the blog. From the warm tropic atmosphere of Orlando to the mean streets of Manhattan,
